Enhanced CORBA notification service
PublicProject Hercules, a missile defense initiative, utilizes radar, infrared, optical, and other types of sensors disbursed globally to track objects. A solid data distribution backbone is necessary to fuse sensor data. Currently, a software system known as Glueware provides several services, including data distribution, to Hercules. While the current system provides a high degree of functionality, performance can be improved by enabling multiple-protocol support and providing feedback on network conditions. The Enhanced CORBA Notification Service implements the improvements. Using techniques intended to limit modification of existing code, the enhanced service can utilize and dynamically switch between TCP and UDP network protocols. New components have been developed to autonomously react to network conditions and provide feedback to the user. Through simulated testing, these additions have been proven effective.
