GE Aviation, in New Hampshire, produces the bladed disks (blisks) that are necessary in the construction of jet engines. These blisks are solid billets of titanium that are machined into the correct size. The blisks undergo various quality checks, including one to determine if the minimum and maximum radii of the blade root fillets are met. The goal of the project was to develop a robotic system which automates that portion of the blisk inspection process.
