Lubrication system test module

Public

Steel rolling mills implement the use of a lubrication system to lubricate the machinery. These systems consist of a large holding tank containing baffles and heaters causing sufficient de-aeration of the oil as it circulates through the tank. A one-fifth scaled model test tank is used to represent an actual tank. The test tank is used to analyze the different properties and performances of a variety of oils. There is concern that the test tank does not accurately represent an actual tank thus making the data collected from the test tank invalid. The purpose of this project is to analyze the current test tank to determine how accurately the one-fifth scaled test tank represents a real tank. It was found that there were problems with the test tank being an actual representation of the actual tank.
