Evaluation of random number generators on FPGAs

Public

Accurate generation of truly random bits is crucial to modern cryptography. Our project goal was to determine whether the jitter created using reconfigurable logic could be used to create a true random number generator. Our analysis suggests that the nondeterministic parts of the jitter, if manipulated correctly, can produce truly random bits. We devised two possible designs to utilize this jitter to ensure an accurate extraction of bits of nondeterministic phenomena.
