In many communities, domestic wastewater is currently collected, treated, and discharged in great quantities. Yet the treated wastewater may be useful, especially since many parts of the world have severe water shortages. Perceptions on using treated wastewater vary on locations; Americans, in particular, fear the idea of reusing wastewater. These social perceptions restrict the advancements made in wastewater reuse, despite technological progress. This project will explore the feasibility of reusing wastewater; acceptable uses, current legislation, needed technology, and social hurdles.
