The Timna Industrial Area is located in the Eilot region in southern Israel and is currently home to abandoned copper mines. There are multiple stakeholders interested in developing the site since the area is one of the largest sites in Israel zoned for industrial use. We examined three proposed initiatives: data centers, copper mining operations, and tourism. We reviewed information about these activities and conducted interviews to provide the Eilot Regional Council with analyses of the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of each proposal.
