Design and construction of a pulsatile flow generator
PúblicoThe goal of this project was to design a bench top model to simulate blood flow through the aorta. Emphais was placed on the design and contrauction of a pulsatile flow stimulator. The simulator generates a flow similar to that of the heart and will be used to measures the changes in pressure waves as they travel through normal and occluded (diseased) model vessels. The pulsatile mechanism is a piston driven by a slider crank. The simulator produces a rectified sine wave and cardiac output of 5L/min. It is also flow controlled with variable speed. Alignment issues prevented the collection of pressure data but the design of an adjustable base that offers increased security for the motor could solve this problem.
