DC GLOW-DISCHARGE PLASMA GUN
PublicThe ion source for the Spallation Neutron Source of Oak Ridge National Laboratory is required to produce a substantial amount of H- current. To help the ion source produce this current, a DC, glow-discharge plasma gun was designed using coupled fluid dynamic, heat transfer, mechanical stress and deformation, and ion/electron trajectory simulations. In this report, the initial design, simulations results, and experimental data will be discussed.
