Analysis of an onboard infrared camera assembly
PublicThe Midcourse Flyaway Sensor Package (M-FASP) developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory will be deployed from a rocket to track objects using infrared (IR) and visual sensors. This project presents thermal, structural analysis and design of the IR sensor assembly. Numerical analysis shows that use of a phase-change material encapsulated within an aluminum honeycomb absorbs the heat produced by the IR sensor cooling system. Numerical analysis shows that isolation of the camera assembly reduces the natural frequency and eliminates unwanted vibration.
