Analysis of a micro-retarding potential analyzer

Public

This project performed analyses for the optimization of a Micro-Retarding Potential Analyzer (microRPA) designed for characterization of high density plasmas. A heat transfer analysis using ANSYS determined the temperature distribution and the maximum heat load under various applied heat flux conditions. The analytical evaluation of the interactions between the plasma flow and the microRPA provided guidelines for further miniaturization of the diagnostic. In addition, this project designed a flange for the vacuum facility and tested diagnostics for planned microRPA experiments.
