DESIGNING AN EMS BICYCLE MOUNTED BACKPACK SYSTEM
PúblicoConteúdo disponível para baixar
open in viewerThe use of bicycles in emergency medical services (EMS) is a relatively novel idea. This technology continues to evolve to address the needs of EMS bike teams. One of these needs is for ergonomic solutions that allows bike medics to effectively transport medical equipment and consumables. - Current systems are constrained by weight, maneuverability, ease of access, resistance to water and bio-hazards, and durability. The proposed solution utilizes a pannier design with a quick release mechanism that can be operated with one hand and two shoulder straps, allowing the bag to be carried over difficult terrain. A website is created to showcase the impact of the proposed designs to EMS bike medics. In the future, the bag can be fabricated for field testing and further refinement.
