Improving Media Access for Audio Journal's Print Disabled Listeners
PúblicoContenido Descargable
open in viewerThe Audio Journal is a radio reading service in Worcester that broadcasts to the blind and visually impaired people in Central Massachusetts. They approached the Worcester Community Project Center with a specific goal of developing either a smartphone application or an Alexa skill to make it easier for their users to access their archived and live content on-demand. To achieve this goal, we interviewed 21 people with visual impairments, print disabilities, social service workers, and app developers and determined the best possible platform and features that were needed in the software. We found that a simple and easy to use, accessible iOS app was the best option for this population. We also created a concept design for the app as a model for future development of the application.
