The 2011 Americans with Disabilities Act requires all public pools to have a chair lift to help a disabled person enter and exit the pool. These devices tend to be expensive and have issues with weight and mobility. The goal of this project was to analyze the shortcomings of existing chair lifts to determine areas for improvement that could be addressed in a new device. The engineering design process was then used to develop a design that is easily movable and less expensive than competing models. Finally, a functioning prototype was built to show proof of concept.
