This report examines affordable housing in Monteverde, Costa Rica. The tourism industry has brought economic revitalization but has also caused a decline in affordable housing. To address this situation, we first need to understand how this issues impacts people's daily lives. We surveyed and interviewed over 100 residents. We found that Monteverde lacks sufficient affordable housing, which results in negative impacts for the local workforce and resident's mental health, sense of dignity, quality of life, and sense of community.
