Grain Coarsening Behavior of two Gamma Prime Ni-Based Superalloys

open in viewerThe effect of heating rates on the grain growth kinetics of two wrought nickel-based superalloys (IN100 and N210) has been experimentally investigated. The specimens were heat treated through heat immersion and a heating rate of one degree per minute up to two temperatures above their respective solvus, 15 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit and held there for 15 and 120 minutes. It was found that the grain growth kinetics were faster for the samples that underwent the slower heat rate.
