Charge-collection spectroscopy using a novel semiconductor device

Public

This Major Qualifying Project (MQP) involved the design, assembly, and test of a system for carrying out alpha spectroscopy experiments at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The system consists of a pre-amplifier, a Multi-Channel Analyzer, a laptop computer, a vacuum chamber, and assorted power supplies. The purpose of this system is to be able to perform preliminary testing on microelectronic devices without the expense of a time at a particle accelerator facility. In addition to building the system, data obtained using the system and other data from related accelerator experiments was analyzed.
