The design of a fully automated transformer tester

The fully automated transformer tester (FATT) was designed to test the efficiency of thick-film planar transformers in a switch mode power supply environment (flyback converter). LabVIEW is used to automate the test process, including data acquisition and efficiency calculations. The FATT is able to operate over a switching frequency range of 100kHz to 1MHz, has independent duty cycle control, and is capable of dissipating in excess of 100W of power, transferred through the transformers.
