Roundabouts have become a popular intersection design in Denmark, due to the vehicular safety and traffic management capability they promise. This has hurt the ability of the visually impaired to navigate in the public right-of-way, since they are unable to safely cross roundabouts using the usual non-visual cues. This study examines the problems faced by the visually impaired at roundabouts and their potential solutions. It recommends ways to improve the accessibility of roundabouts for the visually impaired.
