Exploring the Impact of School Nurses on K-12 System Performance

open in viewerThe goal of this project was to analyze the contribution of nursing services in K-12 educational systems and to create a system dynamics model for policy testing and exploration. Through analysis of secondary and tertiary data, our discussions with nurses active in the field, and literature on the subject, we created a dynamic hypothesis and a simple model that represents the system we identified. Based on analysis of the model, created by the process presented throughout this work, we found that the incremental contribution of allocating a larger fraction of the budget to nursing services is high at first, but the marginal value declines rapidly and becomes negative after a threshold value has been reached. Further analysis is needed to identify this threshold.
