Synthesis and testing of a mercury cuprate superconductor (Hg.Bi.)BaCaCuO
PúblicoA new synthesis method, single step co-precipitation for (Hg.Bi.)BaCaCuO, a mercury cuprate, was explored. Cavitational mixing and microwave synthesis were applied to the synthesis in order to generate high shear mixing and in situ calcination to produce nanocrystalline structures in high phase purity. The procedure was inadequate for the production of the cuprate compound due to incomplete precipitation of mercury. Through X-Ray diffraction analysis, purer phase production was identified from the different mixing techniques as compared to classical synthesis.
