This project examines the problem of terrorism used against the United States by Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaida network. Extensive research was conducted on the main causal factors identified to develop a comprehensive background. Using the system dynamics methodology the information gathered was used to build an explanatory model that simulated the terrorist group and U.S. countermeasures to attacks. The model was then presented in several seminars and evaluated using surveys to discover its value as an education tool. In completion of the study a great deal of insight was revealed about the terrorist problem through the model. In addition, the seminars successfully demonstrated the potential of using a system dynamics for policy development and education implementation.
