Israel’s city of Eilat is one of the 112 cities working with the European Union (EU) to become carbon-neutral and meet the EU’s ‘Cities Missions’ by 2030. The goal of this project, initiated by Eilat’s Municipality Environmental Unit, was to pilot a robust greenhouse gas-emissions auditing system. Using the United Nation's greenhouse gas emissions calculator, we developed an auditing protocol to report five metrics for two local businesses. We calculated a CO2e amount for each participating business to identify emission sources and cost-effective recommendations.
