Optical human earlobe simulator

Public

The goal of this MQP was to design an earlobe model to be used to test a developing noninvasive blood glucose meter at VivaScan Corporation in West Boylston, MA. The design needed to incorporated a circulation component that would not affect the near infrared spectrum of the previously developed material from 1380 to 1620 nm. The final design was an oval piece, measuring 40 mm long, 15 mm wide, and 4 mm thick, enclosing a dumb-bell shaped of gelatin. The design was tested and proved to have similar properties to the human earlobe.
