Nonhuman primates used in research incur great deals of stress that can affect data results. Physical restraint is one such stressor that animals experience in a research facility. Acclimation to chair restraint was examined at Charles River Laboratories in Worcester. It was determined that acclimation does in fact reduce physiological stress associated with restraint as opposed to restraint prior to acclimation. However, physiological stress is not completely eliminated using current acclimation methods.
