Environmental calculators and social impact

Public

This project proposed to study the social impact that environmental calculators can make if used as educational tools to promote pro environmental behavior. A 12th grade environmental science class used two computer calculators to measure initial resource consumption in their homes with follow-up readings. Students tracked their modified actions in journals, such as saving energy, water, or recycling. Statistical analyses of surveys, calculator readings and journals determined that the calculators were effective tools in raising environmental awareness and fostering sustainable behavior.
