Transport of Pharmaceuticals in Soil
PúblicoConteúdo disponível para baixar
open in viewerThe goal of this project was to examine the sorption characteristics of aqueous ciprofloxacin (CIP) to various soil types. Kaolinite and soils with different amounts of organic carbon (foc) were synthesized and contacted with CIP to determine their viability for removing CIP from water. UV-spectrophotometer was used to measure CIP concentration. The results showed that both kaolinite and organic carbon efficiently sorbed aqueous CIP. However, kaolinite allowed for greater sorption of CIP in water than soil with the greatest foc.
