Cooling tower scale inhibitors

Public

A Deposit Accumulation Testing System (DATSII) was installed in a simulated cooling tower environment for Enerco Corporation to study the prevention of calcium carbonate crystal (scale) growth on heat exchange surfaces. Experimentation was developed and performed to determine the effectiveness of scale inhibitors currently in use by Enerco. Preliminary results obtained for 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) in Grand Ledge City Water (GLCW) indicate that an inhibitor level of 6 ppm is sufficient to control scale formation.
