Association of Phospholipase-Cβ1 and Component 3 Promoter of RISC

open in viewerWhile Phospholipase-CB1 (PLCB1) plays an important role on the plasma membrane by generating calcium signals, it also has a significant population in the cytosol where it shows affinity for Component 3 Promoter of RISC (C3PO), which is an enhancer of RNA silencing. This project focused on PLCB1s inhibition of RNA silencing in vitro and in PC12 cells by evaluating the hydrolysis of fluorescent oligonucleotides. We find that PLCB1 binds and inhibits C3PO, allowing the expression of genes whose sequence would otherwise be degraded.
