Helmet testing has perfected kinematics of linear acceleration in a lab, but both linear and angular acceleration are present in concussive impacts. Virginia Tech was first to incorporate both accelerations, but their method simulates a generalized version of an impact. Our goal was to develop and compare VT’s test to a two-helmet version in order to determine if there is a significance in manipulating laboratory helmet tests to specific types of impacts. The prototype included VT’s design with additional parts for the helmet-to-helmet model. An inability to test resulted in analysis performed on existing VT data and we found that if linear acceleration is 37.9 +/- 0.88g and angular acceleration is 2036 +/- 37 rad/s^2 from the mean, there is a significant difference in the two methods.
