In this project we model the behavior of charged laminates. We model the material as a continuum of charged plates with a fluid between them. The material is analyzed in static equilibrium where the electrostatic forces are balanced by the force of gravity, capillarity, and the applied load. The result is a nonlinear integral equation for the function that describes the spacing between plates. An analytical result is obtained for the case when gravity and capillarity are neglected. This result is than used to obtain approximate results for the cases where gravity and capillarity are considered. The resulting spacing is then used to obtain a stress-strain relation for the material. The results were compared to experimental results with accuracy ranging from 5% to 19%.
