A pulse oximeter for mice
PublicAnesthesia is required during many research protocols that utilize the laboratory mouse. Pulse oximetry is a standard procedure in anesthesiology and widely used in humans. It is impractical to invasively monitor oxygen levels in the mouse, especially for prolonged surgical procedures surgical procedures under anesthesia. Therefore, non-invasively monitoring this blood-gas parameter in the mouse would greatly benefit biomedical research. It is the goal of this Major Qualifying Project to design a non-invasive pulse oximeter to measure SP0 in the mouse.
