Design and prototyping of a straightening device for the Gillette Mach3 razor

Public

The goal of the project was to design a device to reduce the curvature in the skin lubrication insert prior to its insertion into the Gillette Mach3 razor head. The curvature of the strip causes feeding problems that increase scrap rate. Preliminary testing was conducted on the insert material to determine its properties relevant to the design process. Two designs were created and analyzed using Pro/Engineer and Pro/Mechanica. A prototype of each design was then constructed for preliminary installation and tests at the Gillette facility.
