The purpose of this Major Qualifying Project was to translate "Notes from a Boontongfan City," a Chinese language book published in Hong Kong, into German. The book is a collection of cultural criticism by Chan Koon-chung from the mid-1970's to the late-1990's, covering both serious and informal topics. Many cultural subjects, such as Hong Kong's history, language, urban mentality linguistic differences between Chinese and German, as well as the format of German feuilletons, were explored and discussed.
