Parallel Pathways: A Comparison of STEM and Culture Programs for Underrepresented Students and Associated Program Evaluation Methods

This report presents a comprehensive study of various evaluation strategies utilised by STEM and cultural education programs for underrepresented youth in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States, primarily focusing upon Indigenous students. Commonalities and variations among approaches to education and evaluation were investigated through conversations with directors of these programs. The report culminates with the introduction of a guide for the assessment of a typical program of this type, which incorporates both qualitative and quantitative assessment techniques. This study seeks to aid program directors in their pursuit of systematic evaluation methods and continuous improvement.
