Compact House Revolution in Monteverde, Costa Rica
PúblicoContenido Descargable
open in viewerThe Monte Verde District in the Cordillera de Tilarán mountain range of Costa Rica suffers from a housing crisis and negative environmental impacts. Our goal is to guide users to construct sustainable, affordable, and accommodating compact houses within a how-to manual. To achieve our goal, case studies and semi-structured interviews with industry experts and residents were utilized to obtain essential information. The Monte Verde District landscape, Bonos program regulations, and viable sustainable practices for houses were considered. Our team recommends building sustainably around wildlife, and utilize water, energy, and resource saving practices to reduce environmental impacts, as demonstrated by the manual.
