SimCortex 2.0 -- a computer simulated model of the development of the cerebral cortex extending from embryonic days E11-P4

Public

SimCortex 2.0 was created as an interactive graphical simulation of the development of the cerebral cortex in the mouse. Progenitor proliferation, neuronal migration along glial fibers, and cell death are modeled. As the simulation progresses, radial glia defasciculate and transform morphologically, and neurons travel to their destined layers. The user can alter the simulated development by manipulating probabilistic processes to experiment with the results. Characteristics of cerebral development were successfully validated within the simulation when compared to current research data.
