To reduce board handling and to decrease incidents as well as lost-time accidents, we redesigned the inspection workstations at Teradyne's Solder Work Center. The inspection area was identified as an area of ergonomic concern through an audit of all work center activities. The ergonomically designed inspection station includes adjustable equipment which fit the inspection task to the inspector. In developing the ergonomic inspection station, we created detailed specifications to standardize all inspection stations.
