Design of reduced gravity fire suppression experiment involving flame-vortex interactions

Public

The goal of this project was to develop an experimental test matrix for the FLEXVORTEX project which studies microgravity flame suppression. The matrix consists of 72 gaseous fuel cases including 40 primary cases and 32 secondary cases for the Rolon type counter-flow burner and vortex generator. All cases are organized into six groups relative to the fuel and suppressant type. The requirements mandated by the goals of the project are satisfied by providing cases which pertain to all questions raised.
