Arm orthosis body mount

Public

This Major Qualifying Project (MQP) deals with the design of a body mount to be used in conjunction with a powered arm orthosis. Previous groups designed and built the orthosis with the intent that people with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) would use it as an assistive device. In this MQP, a new body mounting system was designed for the arm orthosis. Due to the fact that the orthosis was built for people with MD, it was essential that the design specifications of the body mount account for the specific wants and needs of the users as well as the function of the orthosis. Four prototypes were designed, built and tested. The final design was derived from the prototype that performed the best during testing. A CAD model was developed that can be used to construct an improved physical prototype.
