Conducting a Game Studio for Interactive Media and Game Design majors in higher education has become of increased interest including the measures to make it succeed. An analysis of the structure of the Becker College Game Studio course, as well as a collection of previous student experiences, highlighted the potential issues and various strengths of a required studio in higher education. A variety of studios presented different strengths from leadership, work ethic, and final production, but many presented similar downfalls within those same characteristics. This report is mostly comprised of personal experience from the Becker-WPI Pathway Program students working on this project as well as research into other higher education programs. The findings of this research culminated in a recommendation to WPI's IMGD program on how to more effectively run a Game Studio in higher education.

  • This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
