Pressure ulcers occur when the tissue has capillary occlusion leading to necrosis and ultimately an ulcer. To minimize the risk of ulceration a wired detection system was created. This was done with the use of pressure and relative humidity sensors placed underneath the patients' body at the sites of high ulceration risk. An incorporated computer program which reads data in real-time alerts the caregiver when and what part of the body to move. In conclusion, it is recommended that testing be conducted on a wider demographic and that the patch be made wireless. In respects to the marketability of the device, there needs to be research on obtaining FDA approval.
