Effects of Phosphorylation on Ethanol Action in Large Conductance Calcium-Activated Potassium Channels: Studying the biological basis of ethanol addiction in the context of the nervous system can help elucidate the mechanism of alcohol addiction. Ethanol consumption causes various physiological responses such as affecting the gating of the large conductance calcium-activated potassium (BK) channels. Molecular biology and electrophysiological techniques were used to address the role of phosphorylation on ethanol modulation of the BK channel.
