Do Goats Vote?

open in viewerThe 18-24 year old demographic has the lowest voter turnout rates of all eligible age groups. We worked with Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s (WPI) Rev. Kalvin Cummings to develop evidence-based recommendations to increase WPI students’ political participation. We conducted 16 interviews with WPI administrators, civic engagement leaders at other institutions, and a focus group with WPI students. We identified best practices to increase political participation and recommended WPI: hire or identify a civic engagement champion, host in-person events—like live streaming debates and elected official speakers, and improve existing voter registration resources.
- This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
