Food insecurity is a continuous global issue, present on the islands of Hawaiʻi. Our team from WPI was tasked to develop a model food security collaborative based in the Kāneʻohe region of O‘ahu alongside Maka‘alamihi Gardens, a public garden fighting food insecurity locally. Gaps were found within volunteer-dependent gleaning organizations like Aloha Harvest. While interviewing different stakeholders, we developed and presented a system building upon current efforts. This system can improve donor involvement, provide efficient volunteer attainability, and raise awareness.
