Diazolation of 3-bromotetrahydrofuran Via Photoredox Catalysis
Público DepositedThe Musacchio group has developed a method for formal hydride abstraction utilizing photoredox catalysis to couple hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) and radical polar crossover (RPC). This method generates a reactive carbocation that can then be coupled with a variety of nucleophiles. Herein, a method for the diazolation of 3-bromotetrahydrofuran is reported. This 1,2-difunctionalization is hypothesized to proceed via a reactive halonium ion intermediate and allows for a dramatic increase in structural density in one step.
