The effect of strain and gender on reference values for clinical pathology parameters in swine

Normal reference ranges for hematology, serum chemistry, and coagulation parameters for swine may be more beneficial if divided by strain and gender. Reference parameters were created and statistically analyzed to determine if strain and gender caused significant differences. Differences between references [sic] values were found to exist and a substantial number of these results were statistically associated with either strain and/or gender. The ability to make more informed decisions from specific reference parameters and include only suitable animals would be beneficial for the animals, the study that is utilizing the animals, and the Interventional and Surgical Services Massachusetts Division of Charles River Laboratories.
