Development of a thread-up device for a transverse direction orienter

Public

The design and fabrication of a Transverse Directional Orienter thread-up device was posed. Three designs were developed using functional decomposition and decision matrices. Prototype development was waived to investigate the feasibility of using air knives to push webbing across a tabletop. A test rig was developed to evaluate the effects of variables on the web travel distance. Air knives were determined to be a viable method for pushing webbing over a tabletop. Web behaviors were identified that warrant future investigation.
