This project aimed to discover how patrimoine (heritage), is shared in the city of Lyon, France, in partnership with LABEX IMU at the Universite de Lyon. We identified and surveyed key actors of patrimoine from associations, institutions, and social media-a new approach to incorporate social media's important in sharing ideas in society-to determine current views and representations of patrimoine Lyonnais. We analyzed hashtags related to patrimoine to compare with our survey results. Buildings and monuments remain the most common features identified with Lyon's patrimoine. Social media is an innovative way to preserve the past, share the present, and construct future patrimoine. We recommend further research into social media and patrimoine as both continue to evolve.
