Are THP-1 Derived Macrophages a Comparable Model System for Human Dendritic Cells?
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe immune system is integral to human survival, therefore the ability to understand how the system functions is key to advancing medicine. This research aimed to determine if THP-1 derived macrophages would be a comparable model system for human dendritic primary cells. Chromatin immunoprecipitation and LPS time course RNA-Seq experiments were performed to gather epigenetic and transcriptional data from both cell types. A comparative analysis of enhancer landscape and gene expression profiles in both cell types showed that there is a subset of genes in THP-1 derived macrophages that are comparable to the human dendritic primary cells.
