Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Campus Center -- a study in Internet project management
PublicConstruction Project Management is a field that continues to change and improve as new and innovative approaches to tracking construction projects are developed. This major qualifying project examines the ways in which the Internet can be used to facilitate the process of project management by providing fast and convenient access to project information including cost, schedule and progress data. By implementing different web sites that tracked the construction of WPI's Campus Center, it was possible to allow the various parties involved in the construction to have access to all other parties' information quickly and easily. The value of this project was seen in the use given to the web sites and the interest shown by the parties involved. A structural alternative to the structural frame using reinforced concrete was designed and its cost was estimated.
